"Contrariness"

Inspired by a poem, "Casting and Gathering", by Seamus Heaney, in "Seeing Things" (Faber and Faber, 1991), which describes something very close to my own creative process. This detail of a 3D construction, made in response to the poem, shows the place where the two main elements of the piece join and are (literally) held together by the word "contrariness", which is central to both the poem and to my creative process, reminding me of the "negative capability" that the poet, John Keats found to be so valuable to creativity.
