"One thing we knew..."

Inspired by "Blue" by John Burnside, in the collection "The Asylum Dance" (2000, Jonathan Cape). The loneliness and comfort that co-exist in my own memory of growing up in a seaside town, with the dichotomy that prevails between its Winter and Summer identities were part of the inspiration for this piece. The mood of rustiness and sea air that causes it are powerfully evoked, for me, in-between the lines of John's poem. Exhibited at The Scottish Poetry Library (2002)
