"The space of what is gone..."

Inspired by John Burnside's poem, "Sick Room", in "Feast Days" (1992, Secker & Warburg) and exhibited at an exhibition of the same name at The Scottish Poetry Library, during the Edinburgh International Festival, 2002 and one of the first 'Poem-Houses' I made, the physical space within the 3D form allowed me a new freedom, to express a response to both the form of the poem and the resonance of the words, within its own space. I found this resonance began to deepen when I brought the poem into MY own space and, in many ways, began a conversation with it. Rather than representing any attempt at a resolution between myself and the meaning of the poem, these new forms opened a door, into a dialogue between us.
