"The Farmer"

Used to illustrate an essay "Burns and the longer view" by David Robb, in "For A' That: A Celebration of Burns" (2009, The University of Dundee Press)Another of the series of labels made in response to the cult that has grown up around Burns, this one, "The Farmer" is one of the layers used in this piece, to suggest the possible conflict surrounding his role as one who worked the land whilst, at the same time, crafting words into poems and songs.
