"I lay to sleep"

Inspired by a poem by Kathleen Jamie, "The Tree House" , in her collection of the same name (Picador, 2004), which evokes a spell-binding atmosphere of temporary escape from everyday concerns and into a very private, inner space where creativity can be able to have space to unfurl and, perhaps, even to flourish. The rungs of the ladder on this piece are made from bog-oak that has been lime-waxed.
