"What is a line?"

Inspired by a prose poem, 'Line', by Kathleen Jamie in 'Frissure' (Polygon, 2013).

"These summer walks along the shore took me further down the coast, towards Dunbar where, at the tucked-away little harbour of Cove, I was inspired by the rock formations that curve, spine-like, out into the sea.

The act of quietly observing what was in front of my eyes was reminiscent of the quietude that I had felt around us during sittings in my studio, where Kathleen and I had sat, embraced by a mutual solitude…"
